I’ll be looking for an apartment in the spring. The hardest thing for me, outside of finding a residence is the decor. There are so many options out there from traditional, modern and even country, that it’s hard for me to wrap my head around what my ideal taste or needs. In Rochester, I lived in what I always assumed was a old hotel. It had beautiful picture frame walls, high ceilings, generous sun-drenched windows and walls painted in minty/ art deco green. Obviously with a palette like that, it was pretty easy to decorate. It took me two years to finish furnishing the place (don’t judge me, I was a broke student) and when I was done, I had something that I completely loved. Of course, it didn’t help that I was working at a furniture store at the time.
For me new apartment, I think I want something different. I want a grown-up apartment – whatever that means. This time around, I would like a colorful sofa -preferably, teal, turquoise or even fuchsia. Something strong but subtle. I also want strong decorate pieces. One of my New Year’s resolution this year is to travel. I would love to be one of those people that collects pieces of decor from around the state and world.
Overall, I want this new place to be filled with grown-up vision, taste and focus. I want it to be a sense of who I am as a person.
